Where to Eat and Drink
There are many restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars to choose from in Bude and we hope you enjoy trying as many as you can!
However, to give you a head start here are some of our personal favourites:
North Coast Wine Warehouse & Lounge – 1 Lansdown Road EX23 8BH
A small but beautifully decorated wine bar and shop with indoor (Covid permitting) and outdoor seating where you can enjoy wine, beer, cocktails, coffee, and more. Oliver & Renate and their team are experts in their field and are always happy to recommend something to try.
Currently open from 11am – 6pm Monday to Saturday and child friendly. Reservations can be made at www.ncwine.co.uk
They also have a larger retail unit at Unit 4, Bude/Stratton Business Park EX23 8LY for you to stock up on a few bottles on your way home.
Life’s A Beach – 16 Summerleaze Crescent EX23 8HN
Cafe/bar with a terrace overlooking Summerleaze beach. A beautiful spot to enjoy anything from a small snack, coffee & cake to fresh fish and seafood, burgers and locally made brats!
Open Mon – Sat 10am – 9pm, food served to 8pm, earlier close on Sunday
Olive Tree – The Wharf EX23 8LG
Just a short stroll down the canal and over the bridge, the Olive Tree is a lovely spot for brunch/lunch and caters well for all dietary needs.
Open daily 10am – 5pm, Thurs – Sat kitchen closes at 4pm and reopens 5-7pm
Rosie’s Kitchen – Crooklets Beach EX23 8NE
If you are here with children especially, Rosie’s is a great place to spend an hour or two enjoying the sea view with a coffee, beer or milkshake while the little ones play in the adjacent fenced play area. As well as sweet treats and drinks there is a full menu with an American diner feel, and woodfired pizzas available.
Open daily from 10am – 9pm (except Sunday 4pm close), food served 10-3 and 5-8
The Rustic Tea Garden – EX23 9EG
A scenic, slightly hilly 2 mile walk northwards along the coast path (or along the beach if the tide is low enough) will bring you to Northcott Beach where you will find a delightfully quaint caravan with an ample garden serving a selection of snacks and cakes.
Previously run by local legend Margaret Frost who sadly passed away in 2019, the tea garden has recently reopened and is still a fantastic place to stop for refreshment before turning around and heading back to Bude.
Currently open Tuesday to Sunday usually from 10am, but check before visiting (their Facebook page is updated regularly with any changes)
The Weir Bistro – Whalesborough EX23 0JD
Head up the canal inland for just under two miles and you’ll find The Weir. Plenty of seating both indoors and out (Covid permitting), there is breakfast and lunch available, as well as cake and ice cream. For the children there is an outdoor play area, or simply sit by the lake and watch the wildlife. Inside you can buy locally made cheese and snacks to take home. Whalesborough also has Segway hire for a fun afternoon!
Usually open daily from 9am
